Introduction

AC failure in summer is a nightmare. Before you buy an 'AC Pro' can, read this.

Causes

• Low Refrigerant (Freon): AC systems are sealed; if it's low, there IS a leak.
• Compressor Failure: It isn't engaging to pump the gas.
• Clogged Cabin Filter: Might just be poor airflow!

Fix

Check the cabin air filter first (usually behind the glovebox). Listen for a CLICK when you turn on the AC to see if the compressor works.

Recharge: $150. Compressor replacement: $800-$1,200.
